Dr. David Staniford has been a professor, administrator, college coach, and tennis professional for more than forty years. A native of Sydney, Australia, he began his teaching career in the Australian outback. Coached by the legendary Australian Davis Cup coach, Harry Hopman, David was a former number one player at the University of Oregon, where he earned his masters and doctorate. An outstanding Australian junior tennis player he studied at Sydney Teacher's College, University of New South Wales, University of Oregon, and the University of London. An expert in movement analysis, he has taught and coached players at every level. He has taught and coached at the University of Oregon, Illinois State University, Brock University in Ontario, Canada, Newberry College, and Marquette University.

His course, 'A Movement Approach to Sports Skills' has been taught in many countries. He teaches and consults with players, teams and coaches on movement and skills technique. He continues to conduct tennis clinics and camps around the world. Several of his players have played Davis Cup for their countries and have made it to the top thirty junior and world rankings. His books include Natural Movement for Children; Kendall Hunt, and Natural Tennis, second Edition; Stipes with John Boaz. For several years, he has authored a monthly magazine column, 'Good Strokes for Senior Folks' and continues to write articles for professional magazines. His work, Frozen in Time, a memoire, describes his own passage through the world and how he found himself. His previous work, Good Strokes for Senior Folks is a collection of some of the wisdom and knowledge with which these experiences have gifted him. Presently he is the Tennis Professional at Savannah Lakes Village, a 4,000-acre, recreation centered, master-planned, community in McCormick, South Carolina, Many of his students there have gone on to league play including, state, regional and national competitions. David has made tennis his life, and in return it has afforded him many once-in-a-lifetime experiences.

Murder at Wimbledon

MURDER AT WIMBLEDON is a fiction novel, set in London in the early '90's. Jack Hardigan, Australian student working at his doctorate at the University of Oregon, and pro tennis player, spends several summers studying at the University of London and trying to qualify for Wimbledon. He tells his story during a time when London had several ruthless underworld factions fighting to control the markets for liquor, cheap cigarettes, illegal gambling, extortion, prostitution and exploitation of young women. Set against a vivid background of Wimbledon with its class distinctions and traditions and with the threats from the Irish bombings almost every week.

Jack quickly makes new friends in all levels of London society. He takes us on his personal tour of London and the qualifying tournaments for Wimbledon. His summer takes him through a labyrinth of various characters involving him with all factions of society, from a lonely rich diamond heiress to several of London's major crime bosses. and international terrorists. The story, as told by Jack, comes to a disastrous climax with a murder at Wimbledon.

Jack tells his story of that warm summer in London with great authenticity and empathy. He draws on all the grandeur and tradition of Wimbledon and tells of the great differences of class and stature of a society going through change. There is love, violence, sex and death in this story of a young man coming of age in a new world.

Return to the Grass

RETURN TO THE GRASS continues Jack Hardigan's saga as he returns to London to continue his adventures. He hoped it would be another great summer in his favorite city where he would again try to qualify for Wimbledon. This year he had a formidable group of friends he could count on to help him through these unpredictable spring and summer months. More murders have occurred! This time it was a tennis pro who was tortured and killed in Italy and a Russian spy dropped at the doorstep of Jack's friend's club.

To add to this, while Mirium’s bank is moving her artwork to another facility, it is hijacked by a group that will stop at nothing to prevent Jack and Mirium from recovering the stolen pieces. Unfortunately, a priceless Van Gogh is one of those stolen. What starts out as a vacation trip turns into a dangerous odyssey to track and recover the painting. From Lausanne they travel to Milan, Bolzano, Venice, Florence and Rome in a desperate search. Jack tells his story again with the same passion and empathy with his new friends in support. There is intrigue, deception, violence, sex, love and death, and a few surprises, in this sequel that will not disappoint Jack Hardigan fans
